Over the past couple of weeks, Willow Brook has been busily setting up its new council departments, freshly designed to reflect our aims and ethos. In Whole School Council sessions we have debated how our five Cs could be reflected in different working parties and soon got excited about the potential of a team or department with their own vision!

Last week, every child in school applied for a job in one of the departments, thinking carefully about their skills and how they could contribute to each plan. Even the teachers got on board and joined a department, talking about the potential of each team.

This morning we held our elections. We talked through a democratic process and the floor was open for debate and questions. By mid-morning, the vacancies in each department were filled with enthusiastic (and proud!) children, who, I know, will do a fabulous job. We now have Ministers for the Department of Care, Creativity and Community & Commitment to Learning and each will show the confidence we aim to foster as the last of the C’s!

May I introduce the leaders in the Department of Care…
